Sony Email Hack Reveals Plans For A Kanye West Movie
The recent rash of leaked emails from the Sony servers has revealed that racism and a gender gap is rampant amongst the execs of the multi-billion dollar company. There is, however, a diamond-encrusted light at the end of the tunnel.
The Daily Beast reports that an August email to Sony Pictures co-chair Amy Pascal suggests a Kanye West movie may exist in the foreseeable future. Elon Rutberg, Kanye's creative director, reached out to Pascal, saying the DONDA team was planning "a major film project coming up that involves both cinematic and technological innovation," confirming that Kanye's inner circle now speaks exclusively in Westisms.
Rutberg cited the positive critical response to the Cruel Summer short film that debuted at Cannes in 2012, and said he and West "are looking to take the storytelling to the next level with a feature length film, shot for an immersive cinema experience.”
Also revealed in the mass of leaked emails was something more concrete for Kanye. The rapper is reportedly set to appear in the still-untitled 2015 Christmas Eve film from Jonathon Levine, director of 50/50. That film is expected to star Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt; an August email proposes the two stars, along with Anthony Mackie, reenact the FAO Schwartz scene from Big--except with Kanye at the piano.
As of now, the only hints we have as to Kanye's 2015 plans point to a North American tour.
