Jay Z and Russell Simmons are used to things going their way; this time, they're hoping history is on their side. The pair of moguls met with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Wednesday (Dec. 10) to discuss changes to the criminal justice system in New York in light of Eric Garner's murder and the subsequent non-indictment for the police officer who killed him.

While a Cuomo aid was non-committal on the substantive points of the meeting, Simmons suggested that Cuomo pledged to have special prosecutors handle cases where police brutality is alleged.

Cuomo, the former New York State Attorney General and the Secretary Of Housing And Urban Development under President Clinton, will seek to pass a sweeping set of criminal justice reforms in 2015.
