Fresh off the release of his latest album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, J. Cole hit the Late Show With David Letterman stage last night (Dec. 10) to perform the song which was originally a tribute to Michael Brown, but can be applicable to the Eric Garner situation as well, "Be Free."

Cole performed the heartfelt song with palpable emotion, and added a new verse onto the song. "Forget this chain, cuz this aint me/Though i'm eternally grateful to Jay Z/We're so elated we celebrated like Obama waited until his last day in office to tell the nation brothers is gettin' they reparations," said Cole. David Letterman was visibly moved by the performance, sharing the sentiments of many people who were watching along with him. Check out Cole's performance of "Be Free" above.
