With his Hood Billionaire LP hot off the conveyer belt, the newly svelte Rick Ross stopped by Combat Jack's show in New York. Ross talked at length about his fitness regime (heavy ropes), his taste in jewelry (heavy ropes), and more.

The Maybach Music Group rapper had plenty to say about his formative years, growing up around Bass music in Miami. "I loved it, I supported it, I watched all the videos," said Ross. "But I knew I didn't fit in with this. That's my background, that's my vibe, but I wanted to tell more stories, like the West coast. I wanted to dress like them dudes getting money on the East coast." He cites King T and McGruff as some of his forgotten favorites. Ross also recalls flying Kool G Rap down to Miami to collaborate. There's also the story of Ross as Chill Will--his early rap persona who imagined himself as "the third member of EPMD."

Beyond his early influences, Ross expounded on his Carriage City upbringing, his parents, and his career as a ghostwriter.
