While some labels would desperately search all over the industry in hopes of filling a need, Def Jam prefers building from within. That's what they did when they promoted Bill Evans to Vice President of Urban Promotions. Executive Vice President or Urban Promotions, Rodney Shealey, made the announcement today through a press release.

The  press release entailed Evans new role as it appears that he will definitely have his hands full. He will "help manage and support Def Jam’s national field staff, and will work closely with Mr. Shealey to orchestrate the successful roll-out of new record releases to all Urban radio formats, including Mainstream and Urban AC."In addition, he will "also oversee the development and execution of all national radio and advertising campaigns."  Despite grabbing loftier responsibilities, he will also "continue to work closely with his Pop and Rhythm counterparts as well as the Marketing staff to assure the best outcome for all Def Jam artists."

This month, Def Jam will celebrate it's 30th anniversary with a huge concert at the Barclay Center featuring Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, and more.
