While performing during the L.A. stop of the "On The Run" tour on Saturday, Jay Z took a political stance when he implored California to support Prop 47 by saying, "Prop 47! California, build more schools, less prisons," prior to performing the '98 smash, "Hard Knock Life."

Prop 47 a.k.a. the "Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act," will be on the ballot during November elections in November and would reduce the penalty and hand out shorter sentences for non-violent crimes. The bill proposal claims that prisons would be less crowded which, in turn, would save the state $1 billion over the the next five years. That $1 billion would theoretically be invested into "K-12 school programs (25%), victim services (10%), and mental health and drug treatment (65%)."

The above clip, which was caught by friend and Decoded ghostwriter, dream hampton, was a calculated statement as hampton later revealed via her Instagram account:

Many of you know that I’ve joined with #VoteYeson47 and @mrmikedelarocha push through a California ballot initiative, Prop 47, that will change petty, nonviolent crimes from felonies to misdemeanors and reallocate prison spending to prevention and schools. Thousands of poor people will no longer have felony convictions for petty crimes. Tonight, after many recent conversations about mass incarceration, Jay Z stood with us, from the Rose Bowl stage.
