Before The Roots and Boyz II Men became Grammy Award Winning groups, they were students together at the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts. The two groups battled each other in the late 80's during their school's talent show called, "Sentimental Journey." According to the Roots during their interview with the Huffington Post, Boyz II Men cheated because they had their hands on a secret weapon, glitter.

"The talent shows were like huge man. The production was an annual thing. They would call it Senitmental Journey. So, you know, it was all about who was performing at "Sentimental Journey" this year. Our rivals wound up being Boyz II Men," explained Black Thought.

"They used to cheat with glitter," said Questlove. "Girls would start swooning. They would have glitter and the top hats.
