Kanye West and Kim Kardashian will get married and host a reception in Florence, Italy instead of the Paris, France as was widely believed. The couple will get hitched at Florence's 16th-century Belvedere Fort on May 24, according to a spokeswoman at the Florence mayor’s office. Rumors had been swirling for months about the couple's nuptials, some reports claimed that they had already even jumped the broom in Cali a few weeks back.

A spokeswoman at the Florence mayor's office, Elisa Di Lupo said, in an interview with AP, the couple rented the fort, located next to Florence's famed Boboli Gardens, for 300,000 euros.

The trip to the Italian countryside is right inline with the grand style that Kanye has displayed during their engagement. The Chicago native went stadium status when he asked for Kardashian's hand in marriage on her birthday this past October. He rented San Francisco’s AT&T Park and popped the question using the big scoreboard and an accompanying orchestra.

This is Ye's first trip down the aisle and Kim's third time up to bat.

In an interview with Florence's La Nazione newspaper Friday, West spoke on his love of the city and how he may have received a special gift during one of the couple's trips to the city.

"I think that our daughter North was conceived here among the Renaissance masterpieces," he continued. "It was our first honeymoon. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world – for me the most beautiful in Europe."
