During an in-depth interview with NPR, Nasty Nas spoke on a litany of topics including artists like Jay Electronica and ScHoolBoy Q motivating him to make new music, Oprah, J.Cole, meeting A Tribe Called Quest as a teenager, the making of Illmatic, and what young rappers he currently listens to. More importantly, Nas revealed that he is working on a new album with a few heavy hitters on the production team.

According to Nas, the album will feature Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, and No I.D. “I started working with [Timbaland], I want to say a year and a half ago,” says Nas. “I think it was the same year I dropped my last album, Life is Good.“ I started with Tim, and it felt really powerful.” Nas continued, “I talked to Swizz, and we went through joints. And No I.D. This the only interview I’ma talk about it, ’cause I know once this comes out, people might ask me about the record and, man, I just want to finish it and get it done.”

The interview is definitely worth a full listen if you have the time and Nas, as always, drops gems throughout.-Peter Walsh
