Black Hippy performed at Power 106's Cali Christmas concert in Los Angeles last night—where Diddy also hopped on stage and performed with them—and before they went on stage the radio station caught up with Kendrick Lamar about his recent Grammy nominations. Kendrick is up for seven awards, including Best New Artist and Album of the Year, the latter which has only been won twice by hip-hop artists.

"It feels great. I got some of the best fans, the best family, the best radio stations supporting me, and that's who I owe it to at the end of the year," he said on the AOTY nomination. "[good kid, m.A.A.d city] is a really raw album, there's not too much crossover. So for them to even put it in that light, that's a win by itself. So if I take it home that's even more of a crazy feeling."

K Dot was also asked about J. Cole's recent verse on Justin Timberlake's "TKO" remix, where he addressed the hoopla surrounding Kendrick's verse on Big Sean's "Control," where he singled out rappers including Cole.

"I definitely texted him," Kendrick said, laughing. "He was in character, and he just did what he did best, he played off words, man."
