Q-Tip Joins Instagram, Posts Original “Check The Rhime” Lyrics

After joining Instagram today, Q-Tip posted a little bit of hip-hop history for his very first post on the social media service. The Abstract Poet posted a photo of the original lyric sheet for the classic A Tribe Called Quest song, "Check The Rhime" to Instagram today.

The lyrics appear on a yellowing piece of notepad paper that feature misspellings, erasures and added words that seem to indicate the song has gone through multiple drafts before appearing in its finalized version on Tribe's classic 1991 masterpiece, The Low End Theory.

In April 2012, Q-Tip signed with Def Jam to be part of Kanye West's G.O.O.D Music imprint. Tip plans to release his forthcoming fourth solo album, The Last Zulu, on Def Jam/G.O.O.D. sometime in 2014.
