Is DJ Quik Calling It Quits?

Compton rapper/producer DJ Quik made a surprise announcement today that he was selling of all his production equipment and would not remix or engineer material going forward. If the legendary Cali artist is planning to formally retire from music, it would be a huge blow to L.A. hip-hop scene of which Quik has been a major fixture since his 1991 debut album, Quik Is The Name. His last solo album, The Book Of David, the eighth of his career, came out in 2011 and was one of the most critically-acclaimed albums of his career.
