Game Responds to R&B Star Ne-Yo Naming Album LP, The R.E.D. Album

Game’s 2011 LP, The R.E.D. Album, must have impressed Ne-Yo. That’s because the R&B star recently announced in an interview with Hip Hollywood that he’s changing the name of his impending fifth studio album from The Cracks In Mr. Perfect to The R.E.D. Album, the exact same title as Compton’s Game.

So what does Game think of Ne-Yo jacking his album title? He doesn’t quite understand the renaming, but having worked with the crooner before, seemingly accepts it.

“I dont know what that’s about, but I've always known Ne-Yo to be a cool dude, so I’m pretty sure he got his reasoning,” Game told XXLMag.com. “More power to the lil’ homie.”

Ne-Yo explains that his R.E.D. acronym stands for “Realizing Every Dream,” in contrary to Game’s definition of R.E.D., which stood for rededicated.

“Rededicated to hip-hop, rededicated to my hood, Compton, rededicated to my family, rededicated to everything,” Game told MTV back in an interview in 2009.

Interestingly enough, Game collaborated with Ne-Yo on “Camera Phone,” which became the fourth single off of Chuck Taylor’s 2008 album, LAX.

After that LP, Game went through a lot just for The R.E.D. Album to be released. In fact, it took almost two years of delays and a total of 10 rescheduled release dates for the album to finally hit stores. When it did, it featured the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Tyler, The Creator, Drake, Rick Ross, Beanie Sigel, Big Boi, E-40 and Wale and production from Pharrell, Boi-1da, Cool & Dre, Streetrunner, Hit-Boy and DJ Khalil.

Last month, Game told XXL that his next album will be entitled, F.I.V.E.: Fear is Victory’s Evolution. Maybe another R&B cat will try to borrow that too.—Mark Lelinwalla
