Lil Wayne’s recent announcement of Cash Money signing 1990s rock-rap band Limp Bizkit sent the Internet into a frenzy with hip-hop fans buzzing about Baby and Slim’s most recent acquisition.

In a recent interview with XXLMag.com, Baby exclusively elaborated on how the signing of Limp Bizkit came about.

“Fred [Durst] reached out, bruh,” Birdman said of Limp’s frontman Fred Durst. “It was weird how it happened. He was like, ‘Stunna, what’s good?’” I was like, ‘What’s poppin, 5?’ [Fred said] ‘I wanna join the team.’ Whoa! For real? He didn’t have to say it twice. I was already a fan of him. When the opportunity came, we really was supposed to announce it at the Grammys. Wayne was going to announce it at the Grammys, but he did it when he felt like it."

Birdman also revealed that Limp’s first single features Lil Wayne and comes out next week. The legendary mogul said that he will leave it up to Durst and company to develop their own sound for the upcoming album.

“He’s a visionary, he a great artist,” Birdman beamed of Durst. “Also, I want him to be a part of our staff and take over the rock department and bring us over more talent because that’s what he does. I think with having Limp he brings a lot.

“He’s a movie director, he’s a one-stop shop,” Baby continued to gloat about Durst. “So whatever direction he wants to go in his music, he knows it. It’s hot. The single with him and Wayne is very hot. Our thing is we’ve never been the ones to tell the artists what to do and how to do it. We let them be self-controlled. We just back their machine up. Whatever he wanna do, that’s what we wanna do.  We just gonna bring what we do to the table. We’re definitely excited. When I sign somebody to the team, I get evaluations from the team and he got all approvals.”

Durst shares the same excitement about his new situation.

“As both an artist and someone who has signed artists, I can say without a doubt that Cash Money is at the top of their game,” Durst said in a statement. “What attracted me to the label is not only their great taste and hustle, but their belief in their artists and the family atmosphere. Slim and Birdman allow their artists to be themselves and encourage creative output and continued development. I look forward to bringing my vision as a director as well as my voice to the label and to Limp Bizkit putting out some of our best music to date.”

No album title or release date has been announced, however, Cash Money has a stacked lineup of album releases in the coming months. Lil Twist’s Don’t Get It Twisted drops March 20, while Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded is slated for April 3.
