Jay-Z's New York City 40/40 Sports Club has been getting a major makeover since shutting down for renovations last summer, and on Wednesday night (January 18), Hov invited a myriad of his famous friends for the grand reopening event of the remodeled space.

Among the attendees were music executives Steve Stoute, Kevin Liles, Mike Kyser, Sylvia Rhone and Irv Gotti; Victoria Secret model Seleta Ebanks and  rumored boyfriend and BET's 106 & Park host Terrence J; artists Ashanti, Wale, Swizz Beatz, Questlove and DJ Khaled; radio personalities Angie Martinez, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Da God; Def Jam's Shawn "Pecas" Costner; professional athletes Mike Bibby and CC Sabathia; Russell Simmons and Spike Lee, among many others.

Missing was Jay's wife and new mother Beyoncé, who was reportedly scheduled to attend the affair but presumably opted to stay home with new daughter Blue Ivy Carter.

The most shocking attendance came from one of the richest men in the world, Warren Buffett, who sat in one of the redesigned VIP tiere- areas that lead up to the second floor.

And now to the remodeling. 40/40 has definitely gone from a fancy sports bar to a luxurious lounge with calming beige and gold colors throughout, a humongous bar on the main floor equipped with enough Ace of Spades to flow around 100 times over, individual bathrooms on the first floor (not the unisex restroom that took up most of the second floor before), and enough flat screen TVs for attendees to catch every channel of Cable television all at once, among many other upgrades.

In addition, in keeping with the sports bar theme, metal bats adorn the walls and replaced door handles and the previous framed sports jerseys still strategically hang on walls throughout.

Not one to miss the fun, XXL was in the house Jay-Z built for the event and has a breakdown of how it all went down. [Peep XXLMag.com's timeline and photo gallery of the event here.] —Mariel Concepcion
