In conjunction with United Way Of New York City and The Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation, Jay-Z will be performing two concerts at NYC's historic Carnegie Hall next year. During an intimate press conference held earlier today at NYC's Carnegie Hall's Rohatyn Room, Mr. Carter revealed plans to headline the first ever hip-hop focused series at the historic venue.

Joined by Executive and Artistice Director of the Hall, Clive Gillinson, President and CEO of the United Way of New York City, and two recipients of the scholarship, a proud Jay commented on the major event stating: "Its every artist's dream to play a venue as legendary as Carnegie Hall. The fact that I can use the arts and my talent to benefit the education of artists, entrepreneurs, and great thinkers makes for a legendary night. I'm proud to be a part of the continuing work of United Way of New York City and expanding the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation."

This will mark the first ever hip-hop concert at the legendary Hall, while also building awareness on NYC's Education system. About 30% of New York City students live in poverty, coupled with the fact that 39% of these students will not graduate on time.

"The concert is going to be a fun [and] a beautiful experience but, it underscores the story on why we're doing this," Jay explained. "[These shows] will be very important in the difference it will make to children's lives."

The historic event will take place on February 6 at 8:00PM and February 7th at 9:30PM. The shows will raise dollars to boost on-time graduation rates and put college within reach for low-income students throughout the five boroughs.

Tickets will be on sale to the public January 30th. —Ralph Bristout
