Kid Cudi Plans to Start New Label

It's been just a month since Kid Cudi returned to Twitter, and he's wasted no time using it to get out his message. On Saturday (February 26), he announced via the microblogging site that he was splitting with his longtime partners Patrick “Plain Pat” Reynolds and producer Emile Haynie as well as dissolving the label he started with them in 2009, Dream On.

He explained that although he has parted ways with the duo, he harbors no bad feelings and is still aligned with Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label.

"GOOD music affiliate for life, as far as my movement, [I] have to lead it," he wrote on his account. "[Can't] expect people to have the same morals as me. [Plain] Pat and Emile are doing their own thing, [I] wish them well. I have a [different] vision, for music, for the world. [I am] still with GOOD music, with that being said [I'm] just changin my side of things up a bit."

He then added that his new label, which will be formed with his longstanding collaborator Dot Da Genius, will be distributed through his deal with Universal Motown.

Cudder says that although he has a name for the label, he is holding off announcing it until he is able to "lock it in contractually first."

Musically, Cudi doesn't expect the change to alter much. "[T]he jams will be the same, but more real and true to me," he promised, adding that he's "always fuckin with [Y]eezy, for life. [P]eriod. [A] true friend."

Plain Pat was unavailable for comment as of press time.
