The hip-hop community is sending out prayers to Aretha Franklin after the lauded singer fell seriously ill this weekend. Sources say Franklin is currently battling cancer, according to TMZ.

Missy Elliott and Juice Wrld are among the many rappers sharing their thoughts on social media following the surprising news on Monday (Aug. 13). The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told The Associated Press today that Franklin is seriously ill. The news that Aretha's health was failing first came from Showbiz411 journalist Roger Friedman and WDIV TV in Detroit, which reported her family confirmed she was gravely ill.

"My prayers are with Aretha Franklin & her family during this difficult time 🙏🏾 LOOK BELOW @ what I tweeted at the top of the year we MUST CELEBRATE the Living Legends while they are here to see it. So many have given us decades of Timeless music...❤️," Missy wrote on Twitter.

"Praying for you Queen," Juice Wrld tweeted.

DJ Premier, Cappadonna and Jermaine Dupri also sent out their well wishes for the 76-year-old R&B icon, who has achieved 18 Grammy Award wins during her storied career.

Reports include doctors informing the "Respect" singer's family that today will be the day "Aretha will pass." In the months leading up to her current illness, Aretha had stepped away from performing. Last year, the Queen of Soul announced her plans to retire after her doctor ordered her to stay off the road and rest. Aretha still planned to perform at select events despite doctor's orders.
