“Nobody sounds like me from my area,” says Mikey Polo. The DMV native, who has received cosigns from the likes of Trippie Redd, has opened up during performances for acts like Stunna4Vegas and carved out his own lane by merging his emo vibes with trap sonics. The self-proclaimed "Emo Slime" recently stopped by XXL to offer a sample of his unique sound for his What I Do freestyle.

Known to wear his heart on his sleeve, Mikey Polo has learned to avoid the fake love and friends. “Never put my trust in a hoe, that’s what the game taught me/All these niggas is lame, but tryna come for me/Mad because I swerve lanes like a crash dummy/And my name gettin' big, I’m gettin' fast money/I don’t need no fake love that’s what they had for me," he raps.

Continuing with his melodic flow, Mikey goes in with, “Pray my daughter is good, I know she’s glad for me/Still got hoes selling pussy, bringing the bag for me/Strip club, blue bills, they throw it back for me/I don’t need sympathy, don’t feel sad for me/Because when I was down, you ain’t feel bad for me.”

Today, Mikey also debuts his new single, "Pink" featuring 5ivedakid, a mellow, key-driven groove that finds the crooning rapper highlighting the varieties of life that incorporate the hue while delivering lyrics on diamonds, drip and his lady, of course. The song will likely appear on his upcoming, currently untitled project.

“I think this next tape is going to be more me,” says Mikey, who's prepping the follow up to his 2018 debut project, Slime World. Low on guest appearances, the 13-song mixtape featured tracks like “Designer Drugs,” “Pills in the Hill” and “Bizerkk” and served as an introduction for some listeners to the colorful turnt up world of Mikey Polo.
