While the murder of The Notorious B.I.G. still remains a mystery, a man has stepped forward today with an interesting allegation.

While speaking to HipHopDX, inmate and former member of the Nation of Islam, Clayton Hill, claimed to have been an accessory after the fact in Biggie’s murder.

Hill said that in May of 1997, he was ordered by the NOI to take possession of a handgun from a fellow NOI member who called himself Dawoud Muhammad after Muhammad had allegedly murdered the Brooklyn rap giant.

Hill—who is currently locked up in Chicago on conspiracy and identity theft charges—has reportedly also revealed this information to the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s office. “[Dawoud Muhammad] stated to me that he was on the run for the murder [of The Notorious B.I.G.],” Hill wrote to hiphopdx.com via the CorrLinks inmate email system. “He disclosed that he was the shooter of The Notorious B.I.G. because he (Dawoud) was a former Blood gang member and was paid to do so.”

Hill elaborates on his claims in his forthcoming e-book, Diary of an Ex-Terrorist, due out on July 15. In the book, Hill details how Muhammad allegedly boasted about the payment he received for the murder, saying “And I made twenty-five Gs off that.”

Hill is the latest to come forward with information relating to a high-profile hip-hop shooting. As previously reported, convict Dexter Issac has admitted to robbing rap legend Tupac Shakur in 1994 under the orders of James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond, Czar Entertainment CEO and manager of rapper Game. —Lauren Carter
