Last week, adidas Creative Consultant Gary Aspden revealed to sneaker publication, Crepe City, that the Three Stripes and Kanye West were in talks for a possible shoe collab in 2006. The original shoe discussed for the first collaborative effort between 'Ye and adidas was the Rod Laver Vintage court sneaker, which never saw the light of day until today.

Taking to Instagram, former adidas Originals Global Director Ben Pruess posted a photo of the one and only adidas x Kanye sample. Featuring white and brown as primary colorways, the sneaker was themed after Kanye's debut College Dropout and also included the bear logo on the tongue and heel of the low top sneaker.

In the detailed interview with Crepe, Aspen detailed ‘Ye’s passion for designing in 2006, “Even back then Kanye was very clear about the fact that before anything he saw himself primarily as a designer and was determined to start his own line – I remember him showing us logo ideas for ‘Pastel’.”

Although the adidas x Kanye West Rod Laver Vintage court sneaker never saw a general release, Kanye would eventually release the first pair of his Air Yeezy sneakers in 2009 under the Nike umbrella. In late 2013, ‘Ye took his talents over to the Three Stripes and signed lucrative deal under the German sportswear brand, releasing the now coveted adidas x Yeezy Boost footwear collection and apparel.
