It's been almost six years since Trayvon Martin was killed at the hands of George Zimmerman in 2012, and his death still resonates. Martin's family put on the sixth annual Trayvon Martin Peace Walk & Peace Talk in the slain teen's name today (Feb. 10), at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex in Miami Gardens, Fla., which featured a stirring speech from Jay-Z.

In front of a packed crowd and surrounded by Martin's family, including his mother, Sybrina, and father, Tracy, Jigga put some kind words in the ether. "It's a beautiful thing that Sybrina and Tracy are doing with their strength," Hov started. "Thank you, for being here. It's the support you guys are showing, and the strength that Tracy, Sybrina and the family are showing. We want to make sure we stand in support and never forget. Trayvon serves as a beacon of light to all the people out here. So you guys will never have to go through the pain and the hurt that these guys went through. His name will sit alongside some of the greats who lost their life to push our culture forward. The Martin Luther Kings, the Gandhis. That's the intention that we set, that his name serves as a beacon of light and hope, and push us in a better direction."

The event at the BTF Complex was followed by a March through the streets, where people walked a chanted while wearing red shirts with Trayvon's image on them.

Last March, Jay revealed he was working on putting out a documentary series on Trayvon based on the books Suspicion Nation: The Inside Story of the Trayvon Martin Injustice and Why We Continue to Repeat It and Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin. Trayvon's killer, George Zimmerman, was not happy about this revelation.
