Drake’s “One Dance” Breaks Adele’s U.K. Streaming Record
Summer '16 is going to be lit. And Drake is already starting to take ownership with his highly anticipated album View From the 6 dropping yesterday (April 29). The momentum is just starting to rise and Drizzy is already breaking records in the UK having just dethroned Adele as the record holder for most single streams in a week.
The British hit-maker previously held the record with her smash single "Hello" getting 7.32 million streams in a week. Now Aubrey is the sole controller, with his single "One Dance" featuring Wizkid and Kyla taking over the top spot with 7.8 million streams in seven days, according to Chart News. The song has already set a precedent for the Toronto rapper as it is Drake’s first No. 1 hit on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100.
As most predicted, Views is reportedly doing numbers. Last night, at his official album listening party for the album, Drizzy revealed the LP, his fifth, had moved over 630,000 copies in one day. But it looks like even that was an understatement. According to reports the numbers are closer to 1 million, however - all but assuring the rap-crooner the No. 1 spot on next week's Billboard 200.
Of course, the LP's release has dominated the conversation on the Internet with people offering their reactions after hearing the project, and of course, creating hilarious memes to boot.
