Since he dropped Illmatic in ’94, Nas has always been hailed as the ghetto messiah. His lyrics and rhymes held more jewels than Jacob and Tiffany combined. On this mixtape, the skits and movie audio used alone make it an attention grabber. And don’t get me started on the lyrical content, on joints like “Cops Keep Firing" and "Black President." And his rhymes on “Seen It All” with that Dr. Dre-sounding beat had the young god open like it was ’96 all over again. Only thing that had me bugging was, I really didn’t see the point in having Mike Tyson say “Iron Mike is in the house! Iron Mike is in the house!” on “Legendary.” I love Mike just as much as the next thug, but damn. Mike probably did that for a few bags of groceries. [Editor's note: Hilarious, O, but "Legendary" is the title track of an upcoming Mike Tyson doc] But it don’t matter, this mixtape was off the meat rack and these young cats that swear Nas is irrelevant in today’s rap game need to get they MySpace-ass mind right. Yeah, it’s ’08 but some MC’s are timeless.

Hottest joint: "Seen It All"
