Danny Towers has always stayed down, whether working on his craft or coming up through the ranks alongside longtime friends and fellow South Florida rappers XXXTentacion and Ski Mask The Slump God. His first rap, at age 14, was a self-recorded verse set to Kanye West's "So Appalled" instrumental. Since, he's appeared on songs like Ski Mask's Beware The Book Of Eli cut "Geekin" in 2018 and DJ Scheme's July 2019 single "How You Feel?" The latter track, which features Ski and Lil Yachty, is the product of a freestyle session. It quickly became a viral sensation on TikTok, which has helped power the song to 14 million streams on Spotify. Danny Towers is now gearing up to join Ski, Pouya, Pop Smoke and Scheme on the Stokeley tour while readying his debut project. Clearly, things are on the up and up.

Age: 24

Hometown: Orlando, Fla.

I grew up listening to: "The first rap CD that I ever bought—my mom actually bought me a Lil Scrappy CD. It was crunk music and shit like that. I must've been in like elementary school. I was just riding around bumping that. Singing that front to back—that's all I knew. Honestly, now that I think about it, Lil Scrappy definitely had an influence on me."

My style’s been compared to: "A lot of people tell me ironically [that I'm] on some 2000s crunk shit. Just on modern-day trap beats. I can see how I can give that energy off."

My standout records to date: "'Motel Hell,' definitely 'Geekin.' I have a song on Ronny J's album called 'Trauma' with my boy Nell. He's from South Florida, too. Dope as fuck. I have a few songs on Wifisfuneral's projects. When I used to rock with Wifi's stuff, I toured with him twice. That played a big part in my come up for sure."

My most slept-on song: "'Bruce Lee'—that's one of my favorite joints. Ronny J beat. It has a few plays, but I feel like it should be bigger. The approach I took on there, I don't really sound like anyone. It has the same feel as 'Motel Hell.' The beat is too raw and the flows on there—it's just a great song all around."

My standout moments to date: "Going on this tour, man. Everything's going amazing. All I've ever wanted was just to be in position. I don't wanna ask for anything—no handouts or anything like that, I don't have to convince anyone to like me. I just need the people to hear it. Just to be given this platform and to be seen at this scale, it's a blessing. I couldn't ask for anything more, It's a dream come true."

Most people don’t know: "I'm Puerto-Rican and I moved to Orlando in late elementary, going to middle school. I got to Florida and didn't know how to speak any English. I couldn't speak to anyone. I couldn't even speak to my bus driver and tell him where I was going. I clearly remember being in elementary and having a hard time making friends."

I’m going to blow up because: "I put the time in. I took time to really study this shit and I'm mastering the art of making music. Putting songs together the right way. At first, I wasn't too satisfied. I didn't wanna hear my shit, people fucked with it, but I wasn't 100 percent satisfied with my shit. Now I love everything I record. I'm happy where I'm at now."

I’m going to be the next: "Danny Towers. I got a lot of musical influences, everyone has people they look up to, but I'm trying to stay as authentic as I can, you know what I'm saying?"
