Currensy Is Dropping ‘The Motion Picture Soundtrack’ Album in April
Curren$y will be releasing his next album in a few months. The New Orleans rapper announced plans to drop his new LP, titled The Motion Picture Soundtrack, in April.
"See u in April," Curren$y wrote on Instagram Tuesday (Feb. 21). "Titling the album #themotionpicturesoundtrack because life is totally a movie... This shall be the perfect score #jlrworking."
Spitta did not give a specific release date, so it appears fans will be in for a surprise release in April. The album will be Curren$y's second project of 2017, but it is his first solo effort of the year. In January, the veteran MC teamed up with a few members of his Jet Life crew on an EP called Jetlanta.
Curren$y is sticking to more reasonable pace this year after dropping projects on a monthly basis in 2016. The "Bottom of the Bottle" rapper chose to scale things back after feeling like fans got overwhelmed by his output.
“Not that it was a bad thing, but month after month, you drop another project and some people lose focus — they didn’t catch up to that one, but they caught on to the other ones,” Curren$y said. “They might’ve missed 10/30, but they have 11/30. I wanna give people a chance, that’s why we gonna fall back for a few.”
Curren$y still has plenty of projects lined up for 2017, including a collaborative EP with Freddie Gibbs called Fetti. But right now, The Motion Picture Soundtrack is his main focus.
