Chris Brown Wins Best Male R&B/Pop Artist at the 2015 BET Awards
In a bit of a strange moment, Chris Brown was announced as the winner of tonight's #FANdemonium challenge at the 2015 BET Awards and before he was able to accept his award, the presenter added that he'd also won the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist award, supposedly one of the top two awards of the evening. But rushed or not, CB gave a heartfelt speech thanking his fans for sticking by him while he was locked up in 2014 and rocking with him through his tumultuous, up-and-down past few years.
Breezy also performed during the show, taking the stage alongside Tyga for a medley of their latest hits, including "Ayo" and Omarion's "Post To Be," who joined them for the performance. In some of the other major awards handed out so far, Nicki Minaj took home the award for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, while Kendrick Lamar won for the men in the same category. In another seemingly strange moment, CB's #FANdemonium victory was a category that hadn't been announced prior; the fan-voted Coca-Cola Viewers Choice Award was set to be the popular vote category, which went to Nicki Minaj for "Only," a track that featured Drake, Lil Wayne and Brown. Either way, CB took home a fan-supported honor.
