Hip-hop radio personality, Charlemagne Tha God’s father was arrested for illegally using a Taser in the crowd at MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands during the New York Jets-Dallas Cowboys football game on Sunday night (September 11). Three people were injured, cops told New York's Daily News on Monday.

Leroy McKelvey, a diehard Cowboys fan and the 59-year-old father of the “Breakfast Club” co-host on New York’s Power 105.1 dial, was arrested on three counts of aggravated assault and two weapons counts after a melee ensued between him and some rabid Jets fans.

His son Charlemagne also attended the game, but did not sit with his father.

“He got jumped by Jets fans when the Cowboys were leading by two touchdowns, so he was just defending himself,” Charlemagne told the Daily News, defending his father. “He shouldn’t have had a Taser on him. But I really feel he took a risk because he felt threatened.”

Charlemagne, who spoke about his father’s incident live on the air both Monday and Tuesday, paid McKelvey's bail yesterday hours before he was released from custody.  —Jakinder Singh
