Chance The Rapper Teases Tracks From New Mixtape

While the world monitors Kanye West's progress on Swish seemingly by the second, there's another Chicago rapper cooking up a special release this year as well. It will be three years this April since Chance the Rapper dropped his head-turning Acid Rap mixtape, and with the release of tracks "Angels" and "Somewhere in Paradise," there's good reason to believe that the long-awaited follow-up is on the way.

On Thursday night (Jan. 21), Chance added to that notion by posting two videos to Snapchat of himself smoking in the studio rapping along to a previously unheard track. In the video, Chance, wearing a Chicago White Sox hat, raps, “If one more label try to stop me, It’s gon’ be some dread head niggas in ya lobby," before pumping himself up. The track seems to have the feel-good high energy trademark in much of Chance's upbeat music.

Chance closed out last year on a number of high notes, performing "Somewhere in Paradise" and "Sunday Candy" on Saturday Night Live, becoming the first independent artist to touch the NBC late night stage, and raised $60,000 in 10 days for Chicago's homeless around Christmas time. During that SNL performance, Chance made reference to his Acid Rap follow-up, saying “Then the third tape slide down the chimney,” but Christmas has obviously come and gone without a new project. It does suggest though the drop date will come sooner rather than later, and the new snaps seem to show Chance feeling good about the music.
