A Tribe Called Quest Limited Edition Speaker Is Released by Sonos

Sonos release their limited edition A Tribe Called Quest speaker this weekend. Sonos and A Tribe Called Quest partnered up to make 50 custom designed PLAY:5 speakers in honor of the the new album. Designed with red, black and green color blocking associated with the group, the speaker also has custom artwork of the album title from artist Richard Prince.,

There is also a special mural in the Sonos New York City store, which was hand painted by Prince himself as well. The 50-piece issue of the PLAY:5 will retail for $499 at the Sonos store in SoHo.

ATCQ released their new album We Got It From Here...Thank You for Your Service Friday (Nov. 11). The 16 track LP featured all four Tribe members including Phife Dawg, who passed away in March at the age of 45.

Kendrick Lamar, André 3000, Elton John, Kanye West, Anderson .Paak, Busta Rhymes and Talib Kweli also appear on the album. XXL received an advanced listen of the project, which was accompanied by a panel discussion featuring Q-Tip, Jarobi, Consequence and Busta Rhymes. Tip opened up about how ATCQ became kids again while crafting the album. “The drapings of ageism and questions of where we’re at, that shit flew out the fucking window,” he said. “We just locked in. We became fucking kids again.”

A Tribe Called Quest also performed on last night (Nov. 12) on Saturday Night Live. Dave Chappelle served as the host. A Tribe Called Quest’s final album We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service, is now available to stream on Apple Music, Spotify and more or cop on iTunes.

The legendary Queens group also host a special three-day pop shop in New York City this past weekend.
