DMX will be returning to jail today for a 2002 driving infraction, but, surprisingly, the troubled rapper is in good spirits.

Before turning himself in, X went on camera to share his thoughts on the situation. “I’ma turn myself in,” he said. “I decided myself to do that. Me and my crew we came to the conclusion that you know, that would be best…I wanna get that over with, ’cause that’s one of the first steps in regaining everything that I lost.” [Watch below]

“My relationship with God has gotten so much stronger,” he added. “It’s always been a good thing. He’s always had his hand on me… Now that I’m actually listening and being obedient, life is so much better. “

"Mr. Simmons is here today to fully cooperate with respect to any matters of the Court's concern," his lawyer said. "This is one of many steps towards rebuilding his image and rapport with the community and his loyal fans."

As previously reported, X has been ordered to serve 90 days in an L.A. jail. He was just freed from an Arizona prison, after spending four months behind bars for a probation violation earlier this month. —Elan Mancini
