Trae Tha Truth Denied Injunction Against Houston Radio Station

Trae Tha Truth went to court Friday (May 14) in an attempt to secure a temporary injunction on Radio One, who’s Houston radio station 97.9 The Box, is refusing to play his music. Unfortunately for Trae, the judge decided ultimately that he would not be able to uphold it.

According to the Houston Press, the judge stated that the injunction was “impossibly broad” and stated that if Radio One didn’t want to do business with the H-Town MC, no matter what the reason, it was their right.

As previously reported, Trae filed a lawsuit against The Box, it’s parent company Radio One, and a few of it’s employees, claiming that 97.9—the only hip-hop station in Houston—stopped playing his music after an on-air interview in which radio personality Nnete Inyangumia accused him of causing violence at a recent public festival. In addition to the ban, he accuses the station of interfering with other personal business dealings. For instance, Trae alleges that Kracker Nuttz, one of the station’s most popular DJs and a 12-year vet of the company, was reportedly fired for accidentally playing a song by Chamillionaire, which featured a verse by Trae.

Trae is suing for general damages to his reputation, character, and standing in the community, as well as mental suffering, loss of professional opportunities, performance revenue, record royalties and other damages.
