Happy Birthday, Redman and Afrika Bambaataa!

Today, April 17, hip-hop celebrates the birthdays of two genre innovators: Bronx born DJ Afrika Bambaataa and New Jersey rapper Redman. Bambaataa, who turns 58 today, has played an integral role in hip-hop since its emergence out of the South Bronx decades ago. Bambaataa has been responsible for helping the art form of hip-hop transcend cultural barriers, thus garnering titles of "Grandfather" and "Godfather" of hip-hop.
