Happy Birthday Game!

Compton bred Game revitalized the West Coast hip-hop scene when he became one of Dr. Dre’s most notable protégés. Dre got his hands on Game’s first mix tape You Know What It Is Vol. 1 in 2002 and signed him to his Aftermath Entertainment label in 2003. Dre and Jimmy Iovine placed Game in G-Unit, and in 2005 Game released his debut studio album The Documentary. The album debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.

The third official single that was released from the album was “Hate It or Love It” featuring 50 Cent. At the 48th annual Grammy Awards, the single gained Game two nominations, including Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

After a highly publicized feud with 50 Cent, Game terminated his contractual obligations with G-Unit in the summer of 2006 and signed with Geffen Records. Game is currently working on his upcoming fifth studio album, which is scheduled to be released on December 11th, 2012. —Anastasia Williams @AAAAAnastasia
