Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson can now add "professor" to his already extensive résumé. According to a response tweet from yesterday, which ?uesto sent to the Chair of the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music Jeff Rabhan, along with Universal Music Enterprises vice president of A&R Harry Weinger, the Roots' drummer will co-teach a course called "Classic Albums" at NYU. The two-credit class will cover various albums that have donned the "classic" label over the years and study the music, production, promotion and marketing that led to their seminal status.

The idea for the course initially sparked when an NPR blog post written by its intern Austin Cooper, dismissively stated his thoughts on Public Enemy's It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. It prompted ?uestlove to respond to Cooper's approach, which eventually led to associate professor of recorded music at NYU, Jason King, to sought for both ?uestlove and Weinger to headline the course.

While registration sheets for the class have not yet surfaced, its coverage on albums by Michael Jackson (Off the Wall), Beastie Boys (Paul's Boutique), Led Zeppelin (IV) and other "classics" are sure to entice the minds of music aficionados of all kind. —Nick De Molina (@odmod)
