Nelly is talking after being detained in Texas on Wednesday night (October 10) after police found heroin, marijuana and a loaded gun in his tour bus.
“It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this morning, October 11th,” Nelly said in a statement sent to XXLMag.com. “Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board. Law enforcement officials in Sierra Blanca, Texas did not press charges against anyone other than that individual.”
On Thursday (October 11), TMZ reported that Brian Keith Jones was the bus passenger who admitted that the drugs and gun were his and was subsequently placed under arrest. As Nelly said, he and the remaining five passengers were then released.
After the St. Louis rapper’s tour bus was stopped at a patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas, police dogs sniffed out 36 small baggies of heroin (.64 ounces) and over 10 pounds of marijuana stuffed in a large green duffel bag. In addition, a loaded .45 caliber pistol was seized.
