Nas’ Gold Medal Game Tickets Were a Gift from Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James
Nas was one of few MCs spotted in London during the Olympics, but he almost didn't get to see Team USA's gold medal game yesterday (August 12).
According to TMZ, Nas— who was in town to headlining a concert—was only six hours away from boarding a flight back to the US when he got a phone call from his friend, New York Knick, Carmelo Anthony.
Word is 'Melo and LeBron James told Nas they'd get him free tickets to the game if he changed his flight. Per Nas' rep, the Queensbridge MC changed his flight and hotel accommodations pronto. "He didn't want to miss history," the rep tells TMZ. "He's very thankful to Carmelo and LeBron looked out for him. It was a moment that he'll always remember."
Team USA took the gold by edging out Spain 107-100 and a celebration followed. Photos of Nas, Swizz Beatz popping bottles with Kobe Bryant, Carmelo and the rest of Team USA quickly surfaced online.
