¡Mayday! Speaks on New EP

The grind never stops. Fresh off a record-breaking nationwide tour alongside Strange Music boss Tech N9ne and Machine Gun Kelly—which included 90 shows in 99 days—Miami-bred band ¡Mayday! is dropped its Thrift Store Halos EP yesterday (August 7). The seven-track release featuring guest appearances by Del The Funky Homosapien, Brotha Lynch Hung and Ces Cru, marks the sextet’s second offering in 2012.

“After coming home from the world record-breaking hostile takeover tour, we wanted to release this EP made up of our favorite cuts that didn’t make the Take Me to Your Leader album,” band MC Wrekonize told XXL. “The project ended up taking on a life of its own, and Thrift Stores Halos was the end result.”

Strange Music has been continuing its stronghold on the independent scene with steady releases this year. In addition to ¡Mayday!, Prozak, Krizz Kaliko and Stevie Stone all released albums.—Carl Chery (@cchery)
