A$AP Rocky was arrested last night (July 19) in New York City.

According to TMZ, the Harlem rapper was taken into New York Police Department custody on Thursday night after he and a friend beat up two people taking pictures of him. Law enforcement sources who spoke to the celebrity news website claim that A$AP is expected to be booked for attempted robbery, although it’s unclear what he was trying to steal.

A$AP, real name Rakim Mayers, reportedly got into an argument with someone in downtown Manhattan, when two civilians started taking pictures of the incident.

That reportedly didn’t sit well with Rocky, who allegedly turned his attention to the amateur photographers and went after them.

A fight ensued and sources told TMZ that the two victims suffered cuts and bruises with one needing treatment at a hospital.

Rocky and his A$AP Mob are getting quite the reputation for their anger as of late.

Earlier this week, it was reported that a stage manager, Anthony Montalbano, is suing the Harlem crew for “beating the hell out of him on stage” at last October’s Fader Fort Music Festival, according to Courthouse News.

Montalbano claims to have needed 10 stitches in his scalp in the aftermath of the incident.

His legal complaint also stated:

“Plaintiff [Montalbano] was then grabbed by the defendants and continuously punched in the face and head for several minutes and said defendants hit plaintiff in the head with a microphone. Plaintiff was covered in blood and sustained serious and lasting injuries, including but not limited to an open scalp wound, concussion, abrasions, lacerations and pain in his head, neck, back, knees and ribs.”

Montalbano is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.—Jakinder Singh
