By now, fans have seen plenty of pictures of Kanye West boo’d up with girlfriend, Kim Kardashian.

But during an upcoming episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter, Kim explains the origins of their friendship.

"We met maybe almost a decade ago, I've known him for a really long time, we've been friends for like six or seven years, so it's very comforting to have someone that knows everything about you that respects you, understands, has gone through similar things," Kim tells Oprah during this Sunday night’s episode. "I can really relate to his mother passing, he can really relate to my father passing. I mean, there's so many similarities in our life that I feel like I'm at a really happy, good space."

"I don't know why it took so long for us to kind of get together," Kim added. "But I think I needed to go through all my experiences and some that he's gone through."

Of course, Kim had a relationship with NFL player Reggie Bush, while Kanye West was involved with model, Amber Rose, who’s now engaged to Wiz Khalifa.

Yeezy rhymed about the relationship on “Way Too Cold,” which he dropped this past April.

“And the whole industry want to fuck your old chick, only nigga I got respect for is Wiz/And I’ll admit, I had fell in love with Kim, around the same time she had fell in love with him/Well, that’s cool, baby girl, do ya thang, lucky I ain’t had Jay drop him from the team,” Yeezy spit on the track.

The “him” that Yeezy was referring to is NBA player Kris Humphries of the Brooklyn Nets, which Yeezy’s big bro, Jay-Z has a minority stake in. Humphries was notorious ex-husband of Kardashian’s, after she pulled the plug after only 72 days of marriage.
