Kendrick Lamar Confirms Release Date For good kid, m.A.A.d city Album

Okay, it’s official now.

Kendrick Lamar officially confirmed that October 2 will be the release date of his highly-anticipated album, good kid, m.A.A.d city.

“All lowercase,” Kendrick tweeted about the album’s title during the wee hours of Tuesday night (June 26), while in London. “Except two letters in the acronym.

good kid, m.A.A.d city / / by kendrick lamar. oct. 2nd. goodnightlLondon,” he added.

The announcement comes after he lashed out on Twitter Monday (June 25), warning: “Let me personally announce the album date and “CORRECT” title. Then its official.”

If the album’s lead single, the Dr. Dre-assisted, “The Recipe,” is any indication, then fans should definitely be pleased by what K. Dot is offering on his major label debut.

His independent album, Section.80, drew rave reviews upon its July 2011 release last year.

K. Dot has stayed sizzling via stellar guest appearances on Drake’s “Buried Alive,” Maybach Music Group’s “Power Circle” and Meek Mill’s “A1 Everything.” He’s also been hard at work as a member of the Black Hippy movement, which includes himself, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul.

However, while in London, Kendrick told R&R Productions that fans shouldn’t expect a plethora of featured guests or heavy production from super producers on good kid, m.A.A.d city.

“A lot of people get to this position where I’m at and they feel like they’ve made it, so they wanna reach out to all the big producers,” K. Dot told R&R Productions, while out in London. “I still feel like I need to go out and show and prove that I stand alone on my own two feet creatively, and that’s exactly what I’m gon’ do.”

Kendrick recently told MTV News that he was going for the same type of vibe and feel that 2Pac’s classic, “California Love,” had on his own “The Recipe.”

“I felt like there hasn’t been that ‘California Love’-type feel since the ’90s, and I really wanted to display that and represent where I’m from,” K. Dot told MTV News. “So I had a whole bunch of beautiful women, good weather — it was like 85 degrees and breezy — and we had [ScHoolboy] Q up in there stealing some of Snoop’s weed, him and Ab-Soul, and we had fun.”—Jakinder Singh
