In hip-hop, the mere sight of ultra-private OutKast MC, Andre 3000, is almost an event. Wednesday night (May 9) the rapper/actor was caught by cameras in Dublin, Ireland, trying to cover his face with dark shades and a large pea coat, which he popped the collar on.

The Irish Film and Television Network previously reported that Three Stacks is in Ireland, preparing for his role as Jimi Hendrix for the legendary rocker’s biopic, All Is by My Side. 3000, real name Andre Benjamin, will star as Hendrix circa-1966 in a script written by Three Kings writer, John Ridley. The film is currently in pre-production, according to reports and should take about six months to shoot.

This is not 3000’s first turn as an actor, he has appeared on both television and film in roles on Families, The Shield, Be Cool, Revolver, Semi-Pro and Four Brothers. He and OutKast partner Big Boi starred together in Bryan Barber’s 2006 musical film, Idlewild. Fans may also have seen Three Stacks in commercials for Gillette’s Master of Style, ad campaign, along with fellow actors Adrien Brody and Gael Garcia Bernal.

Those waiting for new music can be rest assured that they will be getting new material soon. While there is little information on the possibility of a new OutKast album, Andre does have plans to drop a solo project within the next year. “This year I think I’m planning to do a solo project,” said Andre to GQ magazine last February. “I don’t know when it will come out, but hopefully it’ll come out this year. As far as OutKast, I really don’t know if or when that will happen.” —Calvin Stovall (@CalvinStovall)
