Big K.R.I.T. brought his southern charm to New York City's Highline Ballroom on Thursday night (March 8) for his 4Eva N A Thursday concert in support of his 4Eva N A Day mixtape release.

After making what appeared to be an at-capacity crowd wait in anticipation for nearly an hour, K.R.I.T. burst onto the stage wearing all black, including a “Heroes Eventually Die” T-shirt, and tore through soulful new material off 4Eva N A Day with partna in rhyme Big Sant beside him.

SK.R.I.T. laced into new cuts like “Boobie Miles,” “1986” (see video below) and the “4Eva N A Day Theme,” which had the hyped crowd holding up fours and chanting, “day, day, day, day,” to K.R.I.T.’s delight.

After whetting the crowd’s appetite with new joints, the Mississippi MC and former XXL Freshman hit rewind, delivering tracks that helped him get on the map.

K.R.I.T. segued into records like “Just Touched Down” and “Moon & Stars” off his 2010 critically-acclaimed mixtape, K.R.I.T. Wuz Here, before delivering “Sookie Now,” “Time Machine” and “Rotation” off his Return of 4Eva mixtape of last year.

With Big Sant hyping the crowd, a perspiring K.R.I.T. sat on the stage and took a sip of water, looking every bit like a prizefighter in between a world championship bout round. But after about 10 seconds, K.R.I.T. was back up on his feet, ready to give the crowd more, mixing older and new material for the duration of the 60-minute set, including “Money On The Floor,” “Temptation” and “Highs & Lows,” the latter which found K.R.I.T. singing the bridge, “I’d rather be with you,” and joking, “I was talking to shawty right there…she was into this shit.”

K.R.I.T. also hit the fans with “Hometown Hero” and crowd-favorite “Country Shit," for which he jumped into the crowd, throwing Highline into a frenzy.

Smoke DZA joined K.R.I.T. on stage for “Gotta Get Paid,” before the Mississippi representative closed out the show with his new single, “Fuck These Haters & Fuck These Hoes.”

In support of the mixtape, K.R.I.T.’s solid show should only build anticipation for his Def Jam debut album, Live From The Underground, slated to drop in June. —Mark Lelinwalla
