50 Cent took to Twitter today (March 28) to announce that he will team up with DJ Drama for his first Gangsta Grillz Mixtape titled The Lost Tape.

“I'm dropping another mix tape called the lost tape with DJ drama My first gangsta grillz mix tape,” @50cent posted.

This is not the first time that Barrack O’Drama has linked up G-Unit; he also collaborated with former unit member Young Buck back in 2006 on Case Dismissed – The Introduction of G-Unit South and later with Tony Yayo on Gangsta Paradise: Gangsta Grillz in 2009. This marks the first time the G-Unit general will get the Gangsta Grillz stamp on one of his mixtapes, though, and he sounds excited about it.

There was also suppose to be a Gangsta Grillz G-Unit mixtape in 2008 with the title Blood on a Gangsta’s Grill floating around, but the tape never materialized. Drama spoke on the tape to hiphop-n-more.com last July.

“The G-Unit one was just one of those situations where they were busy and I’m a busy person…Plus, Whoo Kid kept stealing all the music and leaking it (laughs),” he said.

Its about time that 50, who can be credited with re-popularizing mixtapes when he first got in the game, links up with one of the biggest and most respected names in the game. Hopefully, the tape will create a good buzz and be a nice warm up for 50’s untitled fifth studio album that is slated to release later this summer. – Nicholas Sella @NickSella
