Petey Pablo quietly turned himself into prison earlier this year for attempting to smuggle a gun through an airport on September 11, 2011.

On January 4, the North Carolina rapper reported to a medium security federal correction institution in West Virginia and started his three-year prision term, reports TMZ.

According to court docs obtained by the site, the court recommended Pablo receive "intensive substance abuse treatment, vocational training and educational opportunities" while behind bars.

Pablo is scheduled be released on July 17, 2014.

Petey Pablo isn't the only rapper struggling through legal troubles this weekend. Juvenile was officially accused of not paying child support for his 13-year-old son on Friday (February  24) and a warrant for his arrest has been issued as a result. Juvie released a statement yesterday claiming the allegations are false.—Mariel Concepcion
