Nicki Minaj Warns Jay-Z, “I’m Coming For Your Spot, Mr. Mogul”

Nicki Minaj had some words for Jay-Z when the two crossed paths at the Victoria Secret fashion show last fall.

“I had a little conversation with Jay-Z at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show,” Nicki told the Allure Magazine, as the cover subject of their new April issue. “He said, ‘Congratulations on all your success.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m coming for you. I’m coming for your spot, Mr. Mogul.’”

While she has catching up to do to catch Jay-Z, the Young Money princess has been expanding her portfolio, having landed deals with M.A.C. Cosmetics and OPI nail lacquer collection. She is also rumored to be interested in beginning her own apparel and fragrance lines.

And it’s been business on top of business for Ms. Minaj, who debuted her “Roman Holiday” track during the 54^th Annual Grammys at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday night (Feb. 12). The colorful, but controversial performance came equipped with Nicki wearing a Vatican-inspired Little Red Riding Hood dress made by Versace and rapping through a makeshift confessional to a priest. The performance ended with Nicki’s alter-ego Roman being levitated in an exorcism.

“On the concept of the performance,
I had this vision for him to be sort of exorcised—or actually he never gets exorcised—but people around him tell him he’s not good enough because he’s not normal, he’s not blending in with the average Joe,” Nicki told Ryan Seacrest on Monday (Feb. 13). “And so his mother is scared and the people around him are afraid because they’ve never seen anything like him. He wanted to show that not only is he amazing and he’s sure of himself and confident, but he’s never gonna change, he’s never gonna be exorcised. Even when they throw the holy water on him, he still rises above.”

The Monday after the Grammys also had Nicki dropping yet another single from her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, in the pop-friendly “Starships.”
