Cleveland Rapper Ray Jr. Becomes Island Def Jam’s Newest Addition

Island Def Jam Music Group is expanding their roster, and the newest addition is Ray Jr.

A Cleveland native, Ray Jr., who was formerly known as Young Ray, the rhymer has ten mixtapes under his belt, and will be releasing his latest project, Elected, on Friday, February 17. Ray has also gained notoriety from his song “I’m from E.C.,” as well as his appearance on Machine Gun Kelly’s song “I Know,” off of the fellow Cleveland native’s Lace Up mixtape.

The new signee recently releases his single “Livin” from his upcoming tape, and also hopes to build on his buzz with a remix to his song “Sloppy,” which is set to feature Big Sean and 2 Chainz, both of whom are also signed to Def Jam. An announcement about Ray’s official single and album should come in the next few months. Listen to “Livin” below.—Adam Fleischer
