Chris Webby is ready to embark on a 40-date tour, beginning this Friday in Toronto.

The trek will mark the first national tour for Webby, taking the Norwalk, Conn. rapper from the East to West Coast, including a stop in Austin, TX during the South by Southwest music festival, before rounding out in Charlotte, NC.

One of 50 XXL Freshmen candidates this year, Webby’s buzz continues to grow as a true independent artist. He’s been able to do so by hitting the No. 1 spot on both the iTunes Hip Hop Charts (United States and United Kingdom) and the Billboard Heatseeker Chart with the release of his first digital album, There Goes The Neighborhood, which was released in December of 2011.

After kicking off the 40-date tour in Toronto on Friday, Webby will touch down in cities like Buffalo, Albany, Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Cleveland in February. Next month will have him making stops in places such as Denver, San Francisco, San Diegot, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Houston, Austin for three consecutive days (3/15-3/17 for SXSW), Dallas and Fort Lauderdale.

The tour is possible after Webby gained buzz with catchy records such as “La La La,” “Trouble Maker,” “Webby’s World,” “A.D.D.” and “There Goes The Neighborhood,” the title track off the digital album he dropped back in December.

Webby has worked with producer Don Cannon and video director Rik Cordero. —Jakinder Singh
