Rap has had some wins at the Academy Awards in recent years, with Eminem and Three 6 Mafia taking home Oscars, but now hip-hop is getting recognized in a different way. For this year's show, Pharrell Williams will team with German composer Hans Zimmer to serve as musical consultant.

"Hans is one of the most accomplished and creative film composers of our time, and Pharrell is a phenomenal songwriter with an amazing list of credits," said awards show producers Brian Grazer and Don Mischer, according to MTV. "This is an exciting and prestigious collaboration that promises to take the audience on a musical journey."

This is not Pharrell's first foray into the movie world, as he has had his music included in movies like Despicable Me, Fast & Furious, The Brave One, Knocked Up and Mean Girls.

Zimmer has a lengthy career composing scores for films, as he's had his hand in over 100 pictures, including last year's Inception.

Pharrell recently collaborated with T.I. on the ATLien's single "Hear Ye, Hear Ye."
