Lil Boosie has pled guilty to drug charges and has consequently been sentenced to eight years in prison.

According to local Lousiana news network, WAFB, the rapper, born Torrence Hatch, pled guilty to three counts of conspiring to bring drugs into a penal institution on Tuesday (November 29) during a pre-trial motion at district court. Investigators said the Baton Rouge MC tried to smuggle drugs into Dixon Correctional Center once and into Angola State Penitentiary twice.

After the judge Mike Erwin announced the sentencing, Lil Boosie requested drug rehab, to which Erwin said he would recommend it but could not order it.

In related news, Lil Boosie is also charged with first-degree murder in the death of Terry Boyd. It is unclear if the death penalty is on the table.—Gina Montana
